a family and their company’s largest pledge of support for Children’s Health℠

FOR THE OLAIYA FAMILY AND THEIR COMPANY, PORTFOLIO REAL ESTATE GROUP, WHAT STARTED AS A PASSION TO GIVE BACK TO KIDS IN NEED DURING THE HOLIDAYS HAS TURNED INTO A DEVOTION TO MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR CHILDREN FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.

He was raised in Nigeria by a mom who worked for the United Nations Children’s Fund caring for kids who were sick and in need. She grew up in a middle-income family and attended public school in inner-city Houston.

And yet, a serendipitous meeting in Dallas brought Beaux and Lindsey together, where they bonded over shared backgrounds growing up in philanthropic families.

Now married and founders of Portfolio Real Estate Group, a North Texas real estate company, their paths were destined to cross.

“I still look up to my mom for who she is and what she did. Her being involved in UNICEF is why giving back has been in my mind since I was a child,” Beaux said. “It’s one of my biggest driving forces in giving back to Children’s Health.”

For Lindsey, her heart for giving back developed early on as she watched her parents and grandparents serve in several local organizations to help people in their community.

“I realized how fortunate I was to be in a middle-income family household and have all my needs met like lunches at school, food at home and resources,” Lindsey said.

THE LAUNCH OF A COMPANY COMMITTED TO GIVING BACK

Beaux started Portfolio Real Estate Group because he enjoyed sales and helping people. Before he launched the company, he worked 12-hour days, six days a week and found little time outside the job to spend with Lindsey and their kids. His desire to be more present with his family and have a flexible work schedule grew, so he formed Portfolio, where he helps clients find homes and provides jobs with a work-life balance for his team of real estate professionals.

And Beaux has built a team of like-minded people who are family oriented and passionate about serving others.

At Portfolio’s annual holiday party, the company uses this gathering as a chance to give back to their community. One year, they encouraged party guests to bring toys for patients at Children’s Health.

When the Olaiyas delivered their team’s toy donations to the hospital, they noticed how many families were there during the holidays. This moment inspired them to do even more. That’s when they began providing holiday meals for patient families.

Over time, their awareness of the needs at Children’s Health and how much they could make an impact on their community has grown — and so has their ability to get their friends and colleagues involved.

“We want our giving to go beyond us. I think it’s about highlighting the need because a lot of people just don’t know,” Lindsey said.

Years ago, a friend invited Beaux to play in a golf tournament benefiting kids with health challenges. And while he enjoyed the tournament, the event propelled him to launch a golf tournament of his own that benefits Children’s Health, inviting Portfolio agents to volunteer at the tournament and clients to join in supporting the hospital’s mission to help our community’s youngest.

UNDERSTANDING THE NEED AND SUPPORTING THE GROWTH OF CHILDREN’S HEALTH

In 2024, Beaux and Lindsey were inspired to do more and pledged $100,000 for the expansion of Children’s Medical Center Plano, which opened in December last year.

As real estate professionals and residents of North Texas, the Olaiyas see every day how fast the region is growing – especially the communities north of Dallas where population growth continues to outpace both the state and the nation. By 2050, the North Texas pediatric population is expected to double to 5 million.

The additional eight-story, 395,000-square-foot patient tower in Plano rivals pediatric hospitals across our region and neighboring states in size, leading-edge technology and clinical capabilities.

The tower doubled the size of the Plano hospital and nearly tripled the campus bed count with the addition of 140 new inpatient beds. The expansion also features an expanded Emergency Room with 48 exam rooms — nearly double the previous capacity — and transformative equipment and resources to serve more families closer to home.

This milestone would not be possible without donors like the Olaiyas and Portfolio Real Estate Group.

Philanthropic gifts and support from donors and corporate partners like them will continue to be essential for Children’s Health to make the impossible possible for the next generation of kids.

The unofficial slogan of Portfolio Real Estate Group is “The food tastes better when we all eat together.” Beaux believes corporate philanthropy is a crucial part of his company because it increases employee engagement and morale, while benefiting communities.

“People feel like they’re part of the greater good and not just employees,” Beaux said.

Beaux and Lindsey are also parents to a teenager and two young children, who they want to understand the importance of giving back to support their community.

“We always tell them, ‘We contribute to the hospital, not because the hospital has done anything for us personally, but for all that they’re doing for others. And if one day we have to be there, we know that we’ll be taken care of too,’” Lindsey said.
